how it works

Prep your teeth and lips! Surface plaque is removed and a lip mask is applied to ensure your comfort.

We assess the shade of your teeth and take a before photo.

A gingival barrier is applied to the border of your teeth to protect your gums (and roots if you have recession) from irritation.

The peroxide gel is applied to the teeth in your smile zone. The light is directed to your teeth for the first round of 15 min.

The gel is removed and another layer of peroxide gel is applied to your teeth for another 15 minute round. If necessary, a third round may be completed.

Your freshly whitened teeth are revealed! Your final shade is assessed and an after photo is taken. We then remove the gingival barrier.

questions
Do you accept dental insurance?
No, teeth whitening is a cosmetic service and therefore not covered by dental insurance.
How long will your appointment take?
In clinic appointments take about 50 min total. Mobile appointments require extra time for setup and clean up. For group appointments, please see confirmation message for your specific appointment timing.
Can I whiten if I have fillings, veneers, or bonding?
That depends on the shade of your fillings, veneers, or bonding. The general rule is if they are whiter than the rest of your teeth, or the same color as your teeth, it’s fine to proceed with a whitening treatment. If the bonding is more yellow than your natural teeth, the contrast will be more dramatic after your whitening. Fillings, veneers, and bonding do not whiten with peroxide. They can sometimes appear whiter when the surrounding stain is removed.
How many appointments will you need?
For first time clients, two initial sessions are strongly recommended for desired results. Maintenance sessions are recommended every 6 months. Teeth whitening is cumulative and your teeth will get whiter with every session when treatment is done at recommended intervals.

Pregnant women, Children under age 16 who have not completed ortho treatment, Anyone with active tooth decay (cavities) or recent oral surgery (past 30 days) Anyone allergic to peroxide or mint products (mint free products available upon request) or severe TMJ
Can everyone’s teeth whiten?
Teeth whitening works in the majority of cases, but not always. It works best for people with thick and healthy enamel who have food/smoking staining. The thinner the enamel, the less dramatic the whitening results will be. It can’t whiten your teeth more than genetically possible. It is important to remember that all results vary.
How white will your teeth get?
Teeth typically whiten 8-10 shades per session. When post-whitening instructions are followed, the teeth continue to whiten for 24H after the session. True results are seen 1-2 weeks later after the results settle. Your second session is recommended 2-4 weeks after your first to boost and stabilize results.

Does it hurt?
For the vast majority of clients teeth whitening is not painful, even for those with very sensitive teeth. Most people report either no sensitivity or mild and tolerable sensitivity. For those who experience mild sensitivity it usually lasts no more than 24H.
How long does each session take?
The whitening process itself takes about 45 minutes from start to finish. For in clinic sessions, set aside 1H from arrival. For mobile sessions, set aside about an hour and twenty minutes to allow for set up and clean up.
